Portofino Park covers an area of about 1,200
hectares on land belonging to the boroughs of Recco,
Camogli, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure,
Rapallo, Zoagli and Chiavari.
The Park represents all Ligurian morphological
features, with steep slopes, nature that has lived
through its evolution alongside the constant work of
man, who has managed to cultivate its earth with
vineyards, chestnut woods and olive-groves.
A great variety of environments, which changes from
the coast to the inland area.
On the northern side, there are woods of black
hornbeam, ash, chestnut, hazel and field maple,
whereas, on the southern side, there is thick
Mediterranean scrub dominated by heather, strawberry
trees, mastic trees and myrtle with pine-woods,
forests of holm oak, garigue, grasslands of
ampelodesma and bracken.
